Description
'The Dynamite Skunk', 1884. John Bull shouts across the water at America. There had been a number of explosions in London in recent months. These were believed to have been carried out by Irish dissidents backed by American dollars. On the 14th March 1884, President Arthur had issued an order to ensure the enforcement of the law on the shipment of explosives from America. However, what was termed the Dynamite Party was still active in America and Punch believed that America was not doing enough to stamp out this evil trade.
