The island is also known as Gunneraas Quoin. On the island are the remains of of a sugar plantation set up by the first Dutch settlers. In the turquoise waters of the lagoon, inside the protective reef, 2 Pirogues, traditional inshore Mauritian fishing boats, are moored'
