Artist's Description

Evening dress, Infanta, 1952 (front oblique partial view). Jet bugle beads, black, rust, yellow, beige, and brown silk tulle; worn by Mrs Julius Epstein, nee Nancy Franklin. This dress is called 'Infanta,' or sometimes 'Williamsburg,' referring to the wide style of skirts worn in the seventeenth century Spanish court, and also in the eighteenth century in the United States.
