The Complete Jack Robinson Collection

Jack Robinson was born in Mississippi in 1928 and grew up in Clarksdale. In the early 50s, he honed his craft through photographing his life and friends in the New Orleans French Quarter. Through friends made in New Orleans, Jack moved to New York City in 1957 and found work in freelance fashion photography for various New York advertisement agencies. In 1959, his photograph of Isabella Albonico was selected as a cover photograph for LIFE Magazine. Through the early 1960s, Jack was a frequent contributor to the New York Times Sunday Magazine and the Sunday Times Fashion Supplement. In 1965, he followed Carrie Donovan to Vogue, where he worked as a freelance photographer until 1972.  His photographs appeared over 500 times in Vogue, making Jack one of Vogue’s most prolific contributors. After his return to Memphis, Jack spent the remainder of his life working as a stained glass designer.  He passed away in 1997.
