(Original Caption) Srang, Cambodia: Cambodian troops fail in second day heavy fighting to recapturing town of Srang, 26 miles south of Phnom Penh. One battalion of Cambodian troops closed to within one mile from Srang but downpinned by heavy automatic weapons and mortar fire. Battalion falls into rice paddies with some trench water and burrows down under heavy enemy fire. Cambodian supported in assault by two batteries 122mm Russian-made artillery pieces which attempt [to] neutralize Communist mortar and automatic weapons positions. More than 600 VCs who converge on town from southeast and southwest of Srang. Troops advanced through the rice paddies. Several shots of artillery positionsd (Russian-made 122mm.) Troops having lunch under the treeshade. Troops firing back with his automatic weapons. Troops changing magazines of his weapons, while young soldier digs in deep rice paddie.
