A small adult western cottonmouth, Agkistrodon piscivores leucostoma, a venomous Pit viper native to most of the eastern United States, with it's mouth open displaying the white lining that it derives it's name from, laying coiled in a defensive position on the surface of a rural road in the Ouachita mountains in Arkansas.
