Description
Statue of Atlas in Rockefeller Center against the facade of St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. The statue is made of bronze by sculptor Lee Lawrie with the help of Rene Paul Chambellan and was installed in 1937. The cathedral of St. Patrick's in the background is a NYC icon. It is decorated in neo-gothic style. Work on the cathedral began in 1858 and it was completed in 1879. It was declared a national historic landmark in 1976.
