Harris' Antelope Squirrel (Ammospermophilus harrissi) Thermoregulating to desert heat. Antelope Sqiuirrels are active during the day and feed on seeds. Body temperature may reach 107 degrees. When overheated by desert sun they go into shade and flop down, with belly down and legs outstretched dispersing excess body heat into the cooler soil or shaded rock. Sonoran Desert, Arizona
