Description
Huamanga, Peru - July 10, 2013: Four indian women conversing in the center of the capital of the province Ayacucho, while other people pass by. All four have the characteristic plaits and three of them wear hats, which give protection against the fierce ultraviolet rays in the thin air at 2750 m above sea level. Indian women in Peru very often wear hats. The styles of the hats vary from region to region. Zooming in it is however evident that the skin is sunburned. Two of the women also wear the "mantas", the colourful blankets over their shoulders and backs normally used for carrying babies.
