Description
Cape Fiolent is a place of St. George Orthodox Monastery. The rock formations of Cape Fiolent of Heracles Peninsula are ophiolits lifted from ancient crust of back-arc basin. Some parts of Heracles Peninsula in Crimea are of ancient Jurassic origin. The volcanic rocks are about 160 million years old. Upper Miocene lava and carbonate intrusions on heavily eroded Jurassic foundation.
