Description
Sunrise at the Golden Temple, Amritsar, IndiaIts one of the mornings around Diwali (the Indian festival of Lights) and the Golden Temple is lit up in all its splendor. One of the rare places I have been to in the wee hours of the morning with no security checks whatsoever. Its little wonder then that the temple has four doors symbolizing its openness towards all people and religions. The temple first built in 1604 was reconstructed in 1764 and in the early 19th century was covered in Gold. The holy texts of the Sikhs the 'Guru Granth Sahib' is housed in this temple.
