Description
Representatives of regional groups from the Women's Guild of Empire marching along Victoria Embankment, London, to demonstrate against the imminent general strike in the UK, 17th April 1926. The Women's Guild of Empire was a right wing organization opposed to communism. Amongst the demonstrators' banners are two that read: 'The Strike Is A Two-Edged Sword' and 'Lancashire's Clemmin (starving) For Peace'. The march will continue to the Royal Albert hall, where a mass meeting will be addressed by the guild's co-founder, British suffragette, Flora Drummond.
