Description
Well, not exactly. It's a replica of the Grande Hermine, the ship that Jacques Cartier sailed to Saint-Pierre on June 15, 1535, and also the ship he was on when he discovered the estuary of the St. Lawrence River. Some people refer to it as the Jordan pirate ship, but it was never used by pirates. It was originally designed as a ferry boat in the early 20th century, called the Progress. In 1991 it was redesigned to resemble Jacques Cartier's ship of 1535, and turned into a restaurant. The ship was abandoned in Jordan's Harbor when the owner ran out of money. Unfortunately, arsonists torched the ship in 2003. Obviously those individuals were not thinking of the Bible verse that tells us to do unto others as we would like them to do unto us!
