Pictured is the prayer area of the Sultan Ahmed Mosque (also known as the Blue Mosque) in Istanbul, Turkey. The mosque has high domed ceilings with elaborately painted tiles and a very large light fixture hanging from chains. Finished in 1616, the Sultan Ahmed Mosque received the nickname ?Blue Mosque? for the decorative blue tiles on the interior walls. It also includes the tomb of the founder and a hospice. It has since become a popular tourist attraction.
